Brazilians developed Movpak, an electric skateboard that turns into backpack, carries luggage suitcase with wheels can turn and is able to recharge batteries for mobile and tablet devices. The project financing of collective technology "wearable" has achieved international success. The product is an alternative transport not only environmentally friendly, but also practical. In just over a day of debut Kickstarter, the novelty had already managed to raise 37% of the total required.
As the initiative come about?
The Bahian Ivo Machado, co-founder of startup that takes the name of the invention, which has the first idea to create the skate came from a reflection of the company's president, Hugo Dourado. He noted that many people use the bike just to get to a subway station. There, they park the bike and then still make transshipment. Gold, then wondered how these people were going to the second driving to work.
Capacity
Along with Hugo Gold, Philip Jonquil engineer (responsible for the technological part) and Ivo Machado (head of marketing) decided to invent a backpack with electric skateboard capable of reaching a speed of 24 km / h. It is a clean alternative, according to Machado: "The Movpak battery life has to go up to 14.5 miles and zero carbon emissions or noise. I believe that it facilitates access to public transportation and decrease the use of cars on short trips. A popular product with price and cost of recharging of R $ 0.06 per 100 km traveled. "
Operation of Movpak
The Movpak is similar to a conventional skateboard. It is stored vertically inside a backpack that weighs 7.7 kg altogether. To get around the compact vehicle, the user uses a remote control to set the acceleration and not have to balance transportation and even pick up momentum.
"A mess all do is find that you need to be skater floor. However, the Movpak does not slip, and a backpack that is on the back gives more support for potatoes leg, "he said Ivo Machado." You can accelerate the control and may also curb without putting one foot in ground. "
Connectivity
The backpack features USB input so you can connect your smartphone or tablet with an adapter and recharge the battery of them. Since the battery is recharged skateboard through outlet. The energy of the gadget is restored in about two hours. With the battery Movpak complete, it is possible to take a load on mobile when the user moves around skating.
What can not attract the consumer is the product price: $ 999 (£ 2200 in direct conversion). On Kickstarter, the initiative needs to reach $ 100 000 investment, equivalent to about £ 67 000. The crowdfunding began on September 2 and runs through October 10. Those interested can help the project with values between $ 1 and US $ 8,890. There are six varieties of colors backpack available: red, green, orange, yellow, blue and black.
If the startup achieve the desired goal, the company will finalize the design project in October, ordering the mounting hardware. The final prototype is planned to be tested in November this year. Between December and January 2015, begins pilot production. Already requested by Kickstarter demand must be produced between February and March next year. Deliveries will be made in April if developers get the money needed. Check out a video of the disclosure Movpak:
