The Sony announced a new MP3 player called Walkman NWZ-A17, which promises high-definition sound. The model, which was announced during the IFA 2014, has large storage capacity and promises long battery life. The Japanese company is betting on a model that reproduces audio with minimal loss of quality, to try to keep alive the brand name "Walkman".
The technology used for such quality is the S-Master digital amplifier, which reduces distortion and noise, according to the manufacturer, ensure audio quality better than CD and far superior to most digital music provided by several well-known services. In practice, the device supports quality files up to 192 kHz and 24 bit.
According to Sony, the product is able to withstand 30 hours of heavy use, using the setting to the highest possible sound quality, or up to 50 hours of normal use. The Walkman NWZ-A17 is compact and has a 2.2 inch screen QVGA LCD type. Light, its weight is only 66 g.
Though small, its storage is of great people: 64 GB capacity, and is possible to expand further through a microSD card. However, without the additional chip, the gadget is already able to hold about 8000 songs in MP3 format. Of course this number can vary by the size of the song and the recording quality.
The device supports WAV, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, MP3, AAC and WMA formats, the most common and used in computer science. The product comes with NFC and Bluetooth connection, for use with external devices, such as headphones or speakers, and even FM radio. However, he has no connection to the Internet.
The Walkman NWZ-A17 will be available in November at a suggested price of $ 299.99. A spokesperson for Sony told us that the company is studying the possibility of bringing to Brazil the products advertised in the press conference at IFA 2014 but still has no confirmed date or price.
