A few days ago, the we reported the launch of the HTC One M8 with Windows Phone. The device was launched in March this year with Android and arrived this month (in the United States only) with the Microsoft operating system. As we see the matter, no specification was changed to the device come with another OS.
This detail is important for giving the opportunity to test the functioning of systems regardless of the hardware. And that's exactly what the site SlashGear made to ascertain which of the two platforms can more efficiently manage battery consumption.
According to the manufacturer, the average consumption of devices should follow the following steps:
HTC One M8 with Android
Time in use: 12 hours
Standby time: 12.2 days
HTC One M8 with Windows Phone
Time in use: 21 hours
Standby time: 15.5 days
After little more than a day connected with smartphones, but without being used, the site compared the percentage of the battery to see which of them consumed less energy. After this period, the model with Android remained at 68% load, while the version with Windows Phone reached 81%.
As we can see by the results, it seems that Microsoft's system can manage better quality battery usage on the smartphone. Obviously it does not define what an OS is better than another, but it is a good comparison, especially considering such an important and often worries us both current devices aspect.
