PS4: Learn to Increase the Battery Life of the DualShock 4

The PlayStation 4 comes with the modern DualShock 4, control that brings numerous improvements over its predecessor, plus some new features such as touch panel, a light bar and the ability to play sounds. Not liking the battery life of your control? Check out some tips to make it last longer.

Decrease the brightness of the light bar

Despite giving a nice visual control, this light bar on top of the DualShock 4 has no special function, since Sony stated that she was asked only for future compatibility with virtual reality goggles company.

Still can’t turn off the light, but a recent update made it possible to decrease the intensity of the bar enough, saving battery power of control and still avoiding that hassle while playing in a dark place.

To disable the toolbar, go to console settings.

Select "Devices".

X Click on "Controls".

In "Shine the Light DUALSHOCK 4 bar" option, select "Dark" to dim the light.

Reduce or disable the speaker volume control

The Dualshock 4 is also equipped with a small speaker, where sounds directly from the games can be played. Although cool, the function is not even very useful, and ends consuming a good amount of battery control.

To decrease or completely disable the sounds coming from the control, go to the same menu as the previous step (Settings – Device - Controls), select the "Volume control (Speaker DUALSHOCK 4)" option and lower the bar to your liking. To disable the speaker, simply reduce the entire bar.

Turn off the vibration control

The vibration of the controls is now a fairly common feature among the controls, but that divides opinion amongst players. If you don’t mind giving up the feedback, this is an option that more should positively influence the life of your batteries.

To disable the vibration, check the same menu described in the previous step: (Settings –Device - Controls) and uncheck the "Enable Vibration" box.

Turn off the control when not using

Another great tip for those who want to improve the battery life of the control is always switch it off while it is not being used. If you are watching movies on Netflix , videos on Youtube or simply taking a break, you can save quite simply disconnecting the battery DualShock 4.

To turn off only the control, go to "Settings - Devices" and select the "Disconnect Devices" option.

In the new screen, select DUALSHOCK 4 and press X. If more than one control is connected to the console, simply repeat the process.

Enable automatic shutdown control

In those times when you need to leave the island for a few minutes (or even hours), a good alternative is to enable automatic shutdown control. Thus, after some interval of time (specified by you) without being used, turn off the DualShock 4.

To enable automatic shutdown, go to "Settings" and look for "Settings Power Saving".

In the "Turning off controls automatically" select the desired time (in this example, the control will turn off after 10 minutes without being used) and press X.
